The Christmas Tour ends in style with a trio of great gigs this week. We've heard glowing report from Brighton and Bournemouth and will bring you a reveiw from Paul Rodgers on Sunday of one of these show.
Wembley was full of love from the band and for the band, with It must be Love being dedicated to the Foreman, Macpherson, Smyth, Woodgate, Barson, Bedford, Thompson families and also to all of you and your familys too to have a Merry Christmas.
I Happily met with Fans from America, Japan, France and Spain as well as gangs of Londoners, and it was a great evening in a refurbished Wembley that Suggs joked was just them moving the stage from the old end to the new other end of the building.
A similar rearanged set list of the songs they have been playing recently made for a great london show, in which On the beat pete was now sounding professional with nearly all the words in the right place, and NW5 was being clearly sung along to be some members of the crowd. Even Sorry was sounding like a full band live song now and was danced to after the prince by mad throngs in the crowd down the front.
Two more songs "I'm leaning on a Lampost" and "Help" were semi added to proceedings.
The first which featured partly improvised guitar and bass backing only was in jest about how long Madness have been going with Suggs talking about hits before the war. The second was a smash led crowd chorus of beatles togetherness.
Wembley Set List. (Bournemouth similar except Taller than you are replaced You Keep Me Hanging on.)
One Step Beyond,Embarrassment,My Girl,The Sun & The Rain,You Keep Me Hanging On,Tomorrow's Just Another Day,NW5,(Leaning on a Lampost),The Prince,Sorry,Return Of The Los Palmas 7,Shut Up,I Chase The Devil AKA Ironshirt,Bed & Breakfast Man,On The Beat Pete,Grey Day,(Help),House Of Fun,Lovestruck,Wings Of A Dove,Baggy Trousers,Our House,It Must Be Love,Swan Lake,Madness...
Night Boat to Ciaro ended this excellent tour with it's pyramid backdrop singalong graphic and then a stage invasion of all the familys of the band and friends video mixed in. Suggs wife anne presented him with some flowers as a 25th wedding present. Baloons and streamers fell onto the stage and the whole thing appeared on the big screen looking like an image from a Tiswas TV show.
Madness' final christmas tour message is now up on the Madness tour 2006 page.
